This glossary contains a list of both English and Hindi terms arranged alphabetically with pronunciation guide for some words. The Hindi words which have no common usage in English are italicized.
Avatara (Avatāra): A descension of God.
Bhakti (Bhakti): See devotion.
Brahma (Brahma): God. Often the formless God.
Brahma (Brahmā): Creator of a brahmānda, or a planetary system.
Brahmanda (Brahmāṇḍa): A planetary system created by one of the uncountable Brahmas.
Devotion: Love for a personal form of God.
Karma: Any kind of action. There are three major kinds of karmas - saṃcita, prārabdha and kriyamāṇa.
Krishna (Kṛṣṇa): The supreme personal form of God, ocean of bliss.
Kriyamana karma (Kriyamāṇa karma): The set of karmas a living is born with, or destiny. This a tiny part of sanchita karma.
Leela (Līlā): Divine pastime or divine sport of an avatār of God or saints.
Mahapurusha (Mahāpuruṣa): Saint, or any soul having attained God-realization. In this form all the activities of the individual soul is governed by God and he is constantly immersed in divine bliss.
Mahāvishnu (Mahāviṣṇu): Creator of uncountable Brahmās, Vishnus and Shivas.
Meditation: Thinking deeply about something. In the spiritual context thinking about a personal form of God.
Prarabdha karma (Prārabdha karma): The set of karmas, reactions to them, one has to undergo in this lifetime.
Radha (Rādhā): The supreme personal form of God, ocean of bliss. The essence of the divine love power of God.
Roopdhyana (Rūpdhyāna): Meditating on a personal form of God, visualizing Him and engaging Him mentally in activities. See meditation.
Sanchita karma (Saṃcita karma): The set of accumulated karmas. It is infinite due to our infinite lifetimes.
Sanskara (Saṃskāra): The accumulated actions in any soul.
Shankar (Śaṅkara): Annihilator of one brahmāṇda, or planetary system.
Shiva (Śiva): See Shankara.
Vishnu (Viṣṇu): Protector of one brahmāṇda, or planetary system.
